My pictures folder disappeared?

I'm running Vista(which i guess is my first problem) I did a system restore yesterday and discovered that my 'my pictures' folder full of pictures has disappeared. I went to folder options and changed it to show hidden. It reappeared and everything was in it, so I checked the options on the particular folder, they were fine, then changed the all folder options to not show hidden. They're gone again and don't show up no matter what the setting is. Help?
